One Saturday morning in May, we awoke to the sound of our trees being delivered. Finally, the landscaping would be topped off by the addition of about a dozen woody perennials. We watched the bobcat fork lift take each tree off the truck bed and line them up like players waiting in the wings for their signals to take the stage. But first … their holes must be dug. This is accomplished with a huge tapered drill bit (in place of the forklift) attached to the front of the bobcat. So, the crew started drilling where the markers were for each tree. They started on the east side of the house and got as far as the second hole, when … oops …

(I know, I know, suspense … you will have to wait for the next blog post to find out how the rest of this Saturday was spent.)
