I know, I know … a remodel already? Our house is only a year and a half old. Well, we wanted to make it more sellable by building out the bedroom suite in the upstairs bonus room. So, that’s exactly what we did.

I interviewed contractors and selected Mike DeSalvo of MD For Your Home for this project. This turned out to be a really good decision. I have never encountered such a thorough, precise, and clean-as-you-go contractor. Mike did all the work himself – it passed my inspection at every step of the way, and ended up costing us less than if we had built the room this way originally. Our plan is close to the standard Promenade bonus room layout, but with the bedroom side being slightly larger.

We added a wall with a door to turn the expansive space into two rooms. In the newly created bedroom, we added a closet. We had to move one of the ceiling vents, and Mike had the idea to put on an attic access panel in the closet ceiling – so we did that. The result is a two-room suite (with a closet in each of the rooms) and a full bath and additional storage room – all upstairs. This space would be great for in-laws, kids, or just a nice guest room/office suite.

We are very happy with the outcome. Take a look for yourself.

By the way, Mike’s company is available for all kinds of projects. I am very happy to give my full recommendation for work at The Maples.
